Ripening and Storage Info

Avocados typically take 7-14 days (after picking) to ripen at room temperature, eg in your fruit bowl at home.  Ripening times are longest at the start of the season, then speed up as the season progresses.   You can store unripe avocados in the fridge, and take them out when you want them to finish ripening - this way you can make your fruit last even longer (although note the eating quality of these may not be quite as good as fruit left to ripen out of the fridge).  For best quality results, ripen at room temperature, but never in direct sunlight.

Best way to extend the eating time - when your avocado is just ripe, place in the fridge and it will be good to eat for another 3-4 days.
If you want to speed up ripening - place your avocados in a paper bag with a ripe banana or apple, and store in the hot water cupboard until ready to eat.
Please note!   ripening times are not an exact science - it depends on fruit maturity which increases over the season, and the conditions/time of year for ripening.  We have given the suggestions above as a guideline so you can manage for yourself how many avocados you have at the ripeness you like to eat them, but it is still a 'try it and see what works for you' process


We pick on Mondays (weather permitting) and dispatch is TUESDAYS only (with additional dispatch on Wednesdays if required by us, eg if picking is delayed by weather).   Please note we have an ordering deadline as avocados are picked to order.  If your order is received after the deadline (Monday 8am), it will be dispatched the following week unless we have surplus fruit picked to fulfill your order that day.
Delivery is by PBT Couriers, delivery target is overnight to North Island, 2-3 days South Island,  plus and additional 2-3 days to rural or remote addresses. You will be sent an email with your tracking number, once your order is dispatch.  To follow up your delivery please use the PBT online tracking tool at  (we have no control over the timing of delivery of your order once it is uplifted from us).

Freight Pricing for Home Boxes :

Home box delivery to North Island addresses:  $6 urban only ($11.50 rural*);   Waiheke Island $25.00 (all sizes)

Home box delivery to South Island addresses:  $8 urban only ($13.50 rural*) 

Freight Pricing for Catering Boxes :

Upper North Island - includes Turangi, Taupo, BOP to Whakatane; Auckland and areas north of those up to and including Orewa $7 ($12.50 rural*)

Lower North Island and Northland - includes Taranaki (to Waitara), Hawkes Bay, East Cape, Wellington; and upper North Is. north of Orewa $12.00 ($17.50 rural*)

South Island: $20 ($25.50 rural*)

Waiheke Island: $24.00,  Great Barrier Island: $42.00

Rural rates include $5.50 surcharge charged to us by our courier company for onforwarding for rural delivery. 

Please click here to go the PBT rural finder and check if your address is classified as rural by the courier.  We cannot dispatch your order if your order is going to a rural address and you have not paid for the rural freight option.


We accept payment by online banking transfer to our bank account; and secure online credit card payment via Paypal.

All orders will be shipped next dispatch date after your payment is cleared. Allow 1-2 days clearance for internet banking payments.  If placing an order over the weekend, be aware your  internet banking payment must show in our account by 8am Monday morning.  If your payment is not showing at this time your order will be held until the following week.  If not sure of your banking clearance time, please pay by credit card instead to ensure immediate payment.

Credit card details are not stored anywhere on our servers nor in our premises. Your credit card details are processed in real time by an independent payment gateway (Paypal), using secure encryption.  You do not require a Paypal account to use this service.  We are unable to manually process credit card orders by email or over the phone.


Pricing is subject to change, according to market price fluctuations.  All prices include GST at the current rate (15%).

However this is a natural product, and can't see inside every fruit !  If there is a problem with your order when you receive it, please contact us to rectify.
